Trina,
He's doing pretty good, but the ball is now rolling. A couple weeks ago he had his cardiologist appointment; they discovered his shunt is beginning to pull away from the artery and that is blood oxygen levels have dropped into the 70s.
He has a cardiac catheterization scheduled for next week. Its a diagnostic procedure in which a tiny, hollow tube (catheter) is inserted into an artery or vein in order to evaluate the heart and blood vessels. It will be done while Grant is sedated. About a 3 1/2 procedure followed by us keeping him on his back for 6 hours. Ya, right...a 6 month old on his back for 6 hours. :)
They'll take those results and send them to 4 different surgeons we've settled on throughout the US. We'll get their opinions back and sit with our cardiac specialist here and make a decision on who we feel with be the best doctor with the best option. So we're possibly looking at heart surgery between end of march and may.
Thanks for asking and I'll keep everyone posted.

we will keep you all in our prayers.

Scott-
I will be kepping your son and your family in my prayers. It sounds like your little guy has been through so much in his young life. God will give you all the strength you need during this difficult time.

What a beautiful family! The Grant looks great!
Hang in there. Thanks for the picture, you all know
how much I like pictures of your children.

His cardiac catheterization went just fine, only difficult part was keeping a 6 month old on their back without moving for 6 hours.
Now all the information is being sent out.

We have a couple friends who have children born with serious heart defects (transposition of the great vessels, tetrology of fallot etc..) and they are doing great! One of them is a young lady here, a Senior in high school, who is a local track star, in long jump and sprints! It is amazing what the docs can do. Keep your chin up - glad the first surgery went well. I will pray for you guys - has to be tough....

Let me know where you all are going for your surgery--if it is in my area you all have a place to stay
Karen Hertel--Alexandria, VA--near DC

Karen Hertel...OMG! How are you? Thank you very much for your kind offer. We still haven't heard back from the surgeons yet, but I'm thinking we'll either end up at Lucille Packard (at Stanford) or in Michigan.
